Cyclone Yaas: PM Modi holds review meet with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik

During West Bengal visit, PM Modi will conduct a review meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee, state Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar. At least four people were killed in Odisha and West Bengal as the cyclonic storm pummeled the eastern coast. Cyclone Yaas, has weakened into a 'well-marked low-pressure' area over Bihar and adjoining east Uttar Pradesh, IMD stated.

Cyclone Yaas lashes Odisha and West Bengal, causes trail of destruction

Cyclone Yaas pummelled the eastern coast including Odisha and West Bengal on Wednesday (May 26), leaving behind a trail of destruction. At least four people reportedly lost their lives in Odisha and West Bengal due to the cyclonic storm. Moreover, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said one crore people were affected in the state due to the cyclone.

Cyclone Yaas makes landfall in Odisha's Bhadrak, WB on high alert

Cyclone Yaas pummeled the coasts of north Odisha and neighbouring West Bengal on Wednesday (May 26), inundating the nearby and especially low lying areas. The cyclonic storm made landfall north of Dhamra in Odisha's Bhadrak district and 50 km south of Balasore, close to Bahanaga block on the coast, PTI reported.

Cyclonic storm Yaas is likely to make landfall near Balasore in north Odisha at a speed of 155 kmph to 165 kmph, gusting to 185 kmph, around noon on May 26, the Met department said.
