Cyclone Yaas makes landfall in Odisha's Bhadrak, lakhs evacuated, West Bengal on high alert

Cyclone Yaas pummeled the coasts of north Odisha and neighbouring West Bengal on Wednesday (May 26), inundating the nearby and especially low lying areas. The cyclonic storm made landfall north of Dhamra in Odisha's Bhadrak district and 50 km south of Balasore, close to Bahanaga block on the coast, PTI reported.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told reporters that about 20,000 mud houses and temporary shelters had been damaged in the state due to Cyclone Yaas, Reuters reported.
