Uttarakhand tragedy: SDRF says 18 new bodies recovered, death toll rises to 56

Eighteen more bodies were recovered from the Tapovan tunnel after a flash flood-hit Joshimath area of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand taking the death toll to 56. Rescue teams have been trying to reach out to the trapped people at the site of the flood-ravaged Tapovan-Vishnugad hydel project.

Difficulties in rescue due to increase in water level of river- SDRF

In Uttarakhand, the rescue operation has been stopped due to the rising water level of Dhauliganga. The SDRF team said in a press conference that the water level of the river was causing problems, so the rescue team has been taken out of Tunnel.
