Gold imports surge to USD 45 billion in April-Feb this fiscal

The imports stood at USD 26.11 billion in April-February 2021. The gems and jewellery exports during the first nine months of the current fiscal grew by 57.5 per cent to USD 35.25 billion. Gold imports in volume terms in April-February 2022 stood at 842.28 tonnes.

Gold prices fell by Rs 53 to Rs 46,984 per 10 gram. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for December traded lower by Rs 53, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 46,984 per 10 grams. Globally, gold traded 0.05 per cent lower at USD 1,756.60 an ounce in New York.
