Myanmar officially inducted an Indian submarine into their navy on Friday. The induction of the submarine was done on the 73rd anniversary of the Myanmar Navy. This was the first time India has given a submarine to another country.

In a first, India will deliver submarine to Myanmar Navy as part of growing defence cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. The submarine will be an EKM or kilo class submarine INS Sindhuvir. A government source described it as "state of the art package", adding, "it is a major step towards building and consolidating foreign cooperation".
