Sensex ends marginally higher; Nifty stays below 14,700; metals, auto slip

While the 30-share BSE index ended 41.75 points or 0.09 percent higher at 48,732.55, the broader NSE Nifty fell 18.70 points or 0.13 percent to 14,677.80. Asian Paints was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, rallying over 8 percent, followed by ITC, Nestle India, L&T, HUL and Reliance Industries. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.92 percent higher at USD 67.67 per barrel.

Sensex ends 465 points lower, Nifty slips below 14,500 amid lockdown worries

Dr Reddy's was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding around 2 percent, followed by Reliance Industries, Sun Pharma, HDFC twins, Infosys, M&M and PowerGrid. On the other hand, ONGC, Bajaj Finance, TCS, Nestle India, and SBI were among the gainers. Barring PSU banks, selling pressure was visible across the sectors with pharma witnessing steep correction.

In a similar movement, the broader NSE Nifty closed 3.05 points or 0.02 percent higher at 14,634.15. Titan was the top loser in the Sensex pack, shedding over 4 percent, followed by IndusInd Bank, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, Kotak Bank, ONGC, ITC, and ICICI Bank.
