Swiggy, Zomato to collect 5% GST from today; will your food order bills go up?
The move will widen the tax base as food vendors currently outside the GST threshold will become liable to GST. Currently, restaurants registered under GST are collecting and depositing the tax. Cab aggregators like Uber and Ola will have to collect 5 per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) for booking 2 and 3 wheeler vehicles effective January 1.

Swiggy, Zomato orders to cost more from Jan 1
Customers will have to pay a 5% GST on all orders placed on online food delivery platforms. Till now, not all restaurants charge taxes on food orders. The proposal was accepted by the GST Council in its 45th meeting.

Zomato, Swiggy orders may attract GST soon
The proposal to put additional GST on food orders is also on the agenda of the GST Council. GST Council’s Fitment Committee had suggested putting an additional tax on online food orders. The committee proposes that there needs to be clarity regarding the taxation on food deliveries.
