Google Messages will introduce features to 'pin', 'star' conversations in app

The two upcoming features have been spotted by XDA Developers in a teardown of Google Messages 8.1.050. The pinned conversation is a feature that allows users to pin conversation to the top of the conversation list. This helps users have easy access to these "pinned" messages once they open the app as they appear on top of all the other messages.

Now you can password-protect your Google activity page

Also, after protecting the details of Maps, Search and Google Play, it also adds other activities such as sites, apps, and devices that use Google services or your voice and audio recordings. Google's feature will also ask for a password whenever you want to access your Web and Activity page. It will direct you to the Google sign-in page where you can enter the password or verify through a connected Android device.

Google tests new tool to 'follow' sites in Chrome on Android

The feature is based on RSS (a web feed) and it is an open web standard that`s been the backbone of many popular web aggregation tools in the past. Users will be able to follow sites from the browser menu and updates will be aggregated in a card-based feed that`s shown when users open a new tab. It`s not clear whether this feed is wholly dependent on sites providing RSS support or if Google will fill in the gaps itself, the report said.

Last year, Google rolled out Android 11 which enforced major changes to the way that apps can access a device`s storage, the report said. These changes, which Google calls "Scoped Storage", significantly limit the amount of storage access an app can get by default, it added. Apps using the MediaStore API can trash rather than delete a file to give users a chance to restore the file later.
