GMC results: In 60-seat civic body, BJP-AGP bag 58 wards

GMC polls 2022 results: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance on Sunday secured a clean sweep in the 60-seat Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections. The saffron party won 58 seats, while one each went in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP).

BJP has so far won in 28 wards while its ally party AGP won in 4 wards and AAP and Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) won in one each The counting of votes for the GMC election began at Moniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati from 8 am.

GMC election 2022: Voting underway for 57 out of 60 wards under GMC

The voting began at 7.30 AM and will continue till 4.30 pm. Altogether 197 candidates are in the fray in 57 wards, while BJP candidates in three wards have already been elected uncontested.
