7th CPC: BIG BLOW to govt employees on payment of 18-month DA Arrear

Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in a written reply said that the decision to freeze three instalments of DA/DR to Central Government employees/pensioners due from 01.01.2020, 01.07.2020 & 01.01.2021 was taken in the context of COVID-19 which caused economic disruption so as to ease pressure on the Government finances.

The Indian government had recently increased the DA of government employees from 31 per cent to 34 per cent. DA and DR are calculated on the basis of the rate of inflation. The Karnata Government has also recently announced to increase the DA and DR rates.

7th Pay Commission DA hike: Check how much salary you will get after 3% hike

The Central government employees and pensioners’ salaries and pensions are all set to increase. The DA and DR will now be paid at a rate of 31% of the basic pay and pension, respectively. Previously, the government was paying DA and DR at a rate of 28% of the basic and pension, respectively.

7th Pay Commission: Central government employees could get 3% DA hike soon

The Central government has also increased the House Rent Allowance (HRA) from 24% to 27%. The Centre could soon announce a further 3% hike in the DA and DR. With the speculated hike, the DA will be increased to 31% of the basic salary.

7th Pay Commission: DA hike will happen again? Check salary increase and more

It is being said that the central government employees will get a 3% DA hike for the month of June which basically adds up to 31% instead of 28%. The 3% DA hike has been assumed based on AICPI data for the month of January to May 2021. The Central Government recently restored the pending DA hike for the last 18 months.
