Attention travellers! China to resume issuing passports, visas as curbs ease
China stopped issuing visas to foreigners and passports to its own people at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. The National Immigration Administration of China said it will start taking applications from January 8 for passports for tourists to go abroad. It said it will resume issuing approval for tourists and businesspeople to visit Hong Kong, a Chinese territory with its own border controls.

Covid-19 scare: India reports 188 new infections; active cases rise to 3468
With 188 new cases of coronavirus infections, the Covid tally has been recorded at 4.46 crore (4,46,77,647). The death toll stands at 5,30,696, the Health Ministry data updated at 8 am stated. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.14 per cent, while the weekly positivity was pegged at 0.18 per cent, the ministry said.
