In August 2019, the SC had cleared the decks for the Chardham highway project by modifying a National Green Tribunal order It had said that the HPC shall consider the cumulative and independent impact of the Chardham project on the entire Himalayan valley, besides other things.

Finance Ministry allots Rs 2,000 cr extra budgetary grant for Chardham

The Centre's ambitious Chardham project to provide all-weather connectivity to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri in Uttarakhand got a shot in the arm with the Finance Ministry sanctioning an extra budgetary support of Rs 2,070 crore for the project.
