Sensex plunges 400 points, Nifty settles below 15,000 dragged by banks

The Sensex ended 440.76 points, or 0.87 percent lower at 50,405.32, while the Nifty settled at 14,938.10, down 142.65 points, or 0.95 percent. All the sectoral indices ended in the red with banks, financials, and metal indices leading the losses. Broader markets also succumbed to selling pressure. On the Nifty50, IndusInd Bank, UPL, Tata Motors, Wipro, and Hindalco Industries were the top losers, while ONGC, GAIL India, Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Hero MotoCorp were the top gainers.

Sensex closes at 50,846, Nifty ends at 15,080 points

Sensex, Nifty up for third straight day, govt assurance on vaccine supports

NSE Nifty 50 index rose 0.88% to 15,046.55, while the S&P BSE Sensex gained 0.8% to 50,699.74. Reliance Industries was the top boost to the Nifty 50, gaining roughly 1% in early trade. Airtel's shares were up 0.79% and Vodafone rose 1.32%.

Sensex ends 447 points higher, Nifty above 14,900; auto, IT stocks surge

The Sensex was up 308 points at 50,158 while the Nifty50 rose 68 points to 14,830. Broader markets outperformed benchmarks with the midcap and smallcap indices up around 0.8 percent each. On the Nifty50 index, BPCL, IOC, Bajaj Finance, Hero Moto and Grasim were the top gainers while ONGC, HDFC, Powergrid, Hindalco and Coal India led the losses.

Sensex closes at 49,849.84, Nifty up by 232.40 points

All sectors also ended in the green for the day led by Nifty Auto, which rose 2.4 percent. Nifty Energy and Nifty Metal were also up 2 percent for the day. Barring Bharti Airtel, all other Nifty50 constituents ended in the green with PowerGrid Corporation, ONGC, Grasim Industries, UPL and Shree Cement rallying the most.
