Dr Guleria's mantra to fight against any variant amid Delta Plus concerns

AIIMS Delhi Director Dr Randeep Guleria said that appropriate behaviour, good surveillance and vaccination are important to avoid the third wave of COVID-19. Dr Guleria also stated that it did not matter what COVID-19 variant came, as long as proper protocols were followed. “Lockdown, vaccination, protocols are the best way to tackle any variant," he said.

WHO-AIIMS seroprevalence survey outcome 'positive': Dr Guleria

Joint survey by the World Health Organization-AIIMS found out that COVID-19 seroprevalence was 55.7 percent and 63.5 percent in the age group below 18 and above respectively, is "positive". Dr Guleria said, "If you want to be more realistic then you should see neutralising antibody."

Delta plus variant may affect efficacy of vaccines to some extent: Guleria

The AIIMS director revealed that the delta plus variant is not yet a concern, adding that “our main aim is to prevent deaths and serious illness". "Currently, the delta plus is a variant of interest. There is not much data to show that this is becoming dominant or this more infectious or causing more mortalities," said AIIMS director.
