Delhi-Dehradun Expressway NOT OPEN YET: Check Status, Route Map, Cost, Travel Time, Expected Inauguration Date
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Status: The Highways and Expressways have been one of the key stories of the Narendra Modi government's development plank. Under Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has been working to connect major cities via Highways or Expressway, thus reducing travel time and bringing people and the cities closer. One such expressway nearing completion is Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. At present, it takes around 5-7 hours to reach Dehradun from Delhi. The expressway will cut the travel time drastically.

Toll-Free Access
To facilitate smoother travel for daily commuters, the first 18 km stretch from Akshardham to Loni will remain toll-free. This move is expected to reduce congestion and improve accessibility for local travelers. (Representative Image: ANI)
Improved Entry and Exit
The newly inaugurated section serves as a crucial entry and exit point for Dehradun via the Saharanpur route. It also extends the existing 12 km elevated road, ensuring seamless movement for vehicles traveling to and from Dehradun. (Representative Image: ANI)
Reduced Travel Time
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the expressway will cut travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from five hours to just 2.5 hours. This will significantly benefit commuters, businesses, and tourism in the region. (Representative Image: ANI)
Route Map
Divided into four segments, the expressway begins at the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Akshardham, passing through Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and the EPE interchange at Khekra in Mandola. It continues through Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh before reaching Dehradun in Uttarakhand. (Representative Image: ANI)
Project Cost
Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore, the six-lane expressway spans 213 km. It features a 12 km elevated wildlife corridor—Asia’s longest—passing through Rajaji National Park and the Shivalik Reserve forest. Inauguration Time
Authorities have announced that the entire Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is expected to be completed by March. Once finished, it will provide a high-speed, efficient route for thousands of daily travelers.
