Do You Know Salary Of SBI Chairman? Check Lavish Govt Bunglow, Pension After Retirement And Other Perks

In an interaction with YouTuber Raj Shamani, Rajnish Kumar revealed that during his tenure as SBI Chairman, his annual salary was Rs 28 lakh, despite overseeing a massive balance sheet of Rs 50 lakh crore. He completed his 3 years term as chairman in October 2020. 

Apart from his salary, Kumar received a car worth Rs 30–40 lakh during his tenure, showcasing the perks associated with the position.  

During his tenure, Kumar was also provided with a luxurious bungalow in Mumbai’s Malabar Hills. Renting the property would cost an estimated Rs 2–2.5 crore per month. 

 

Amitabh Chaudhary of Axis Bank earned Rs 7.62 crore annually in FY22, Sashidhar Jagdishan of HDFC Bank received Rs 6.51 crore annually in the same period, and Sandeep Bakshi of ICICI Bank earned Rs 7.08 crore annually in FY22.  

Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, the 27th Chairman of SBI, has an annual salary of Rs 39.3 lakh. Setty was appointed on August 28, 2024, after serving as the bank’s Managing Director since January 2020.  

The 59-year-old, Challa Sreenivasulu Setty began his journey with SBI as a probationary officer in 1988 and has steadily climbed the ranks to be recommended for the top position at India’s largest bank. He holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, now known as the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
