Best-Selling SUVs: Recently, it has been observed that Indian car buyers are increasingly inclined towards SUVs. The SUV segment is growing rapidly and currently holds over 50% of the market share. In 2024, the Tata Punch, a micro SUV, was the best-selling SUV in India, while the Nexon was among the top-selling models. However, as 2025 began, the Hyundai Creta claimed the top spot on the SUV sales chart for January, with 18,522 units dispatched. It was followed by the Tata Punch, Maruti Grand Vitara, Mahindra Scorpio N and Classic (combined), and Tata Nexon, securing the second to fifth positions, respectively.

1. Hyundai Creta registered a strong 40% YoY growth, selling 18,522 units in January 2025 compared to 13,212 units a year ago.

2. Meanwhile, Tata Punch saw a 10% drop in sales, with 16,231 units sold in Jan 2025 against 17,978 units in January 2024.
Maruti Grand Vitara
3. Maruti Grand Vitara recorded a 17% rise in sales, reaching 15,784 units in January 2025 from 13,438 units in January last year.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic
4. Mahindra Scorpio N and Classic, combined, saw a growth of 8%, with sales increasing to 15,442 units from 14,293 units in January 2024.
Tata Nexon
5. On the other hand, Tata Nexon faced a 10% decline, selling 15,397 units compared to 17,182 units in the same month last year.
