Thiruvananthapuram: A dalit woman faced humiliation, detention and was labelled a call girl by security officials as she had gone to attend state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's monthly public grievance meeting last Tuesday.

The victim, Savita, a mother of two had gone to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on May 17 to seek his intervention into a domestic issue. However, the security officials at the event not only let her in but also misbehaved with her.

The woman, as she alleged, that the security officials made her wait outside the event the entire day on the road outside the Chief Minister's residence. Later in the day when she raised objection to it, the staff present here made her sit in a vehicle and took her to police ground where they humiliated her and called her 'call girl'.

"I was just seeking my rights. I never knew that I would have to face such a situation in my life," the woman was quoted as saying by India Today.

Reportedly, the cops kept the woman in the police station till 9 pm and released her next morning only after her husband intervened.

On the other hand, the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner has rejected all the allegations of the woman and said that the dalit woman was taken into their custody only after she threatened to commit suicide in front of the Chief Minister's office.
