Unrest in Kashmir: PM Modi to take stock of J&K situation at high-level meeting on Tuesday

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will be leaving for New Delhi later today from a four-nation tour of African countries, will on Tuesday take stock of the situation in Kashmir in the wake of growing protests over the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani.

According to a report from India Today, PM Modi will be briefed about rising tension in Kashmir on his return from Africa visit after which he will chair a high-level meeting on the issue tomorrow.

Early today, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval cut short his visit to Kenya and reached back here, at least 24 hours early. With unrest continuing in Kashmir, Doval took stock of the developments in the Valley with the officials.

Doval, who chaired a high-level meeting with senior Union ministers and officials over J&K unrest, told media, “If there are problems, there are solutions. We are quite confident and competent of finding solutions.”

Doval was accompanying the Prime Minister on his four-nation tour of African countries — Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Kenya. They were to return home on Tuesday but the NSA came a day early amidst the soaring protests in Kashmir.

Kashmir has been on the boil ever since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, who was the poster boy militant, on Friday last in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag.
