Brahamdagh Bugti dismisses Naela Baloch's demand for govt-in-exile

Prominent exiled Baloch leader Brahamdagh Bugti on Wednesday asserted Naela Quadri Baloch, also a face of the independent Balochistan movement, does not represent the people of the troubled Pakistani province, a day after she announced her decision to approach India for setting up a government-in-exile.

New Delhi: Prominent exiled Baloch leader Brahamdagh Bugti on Wednesday asserted Naela Quadri Baloch, also a face of the independent Balochistan movement, does not represent the people of the troubled Pakistani province, a day after she announced her decision to approach India for setting up a government-in-exile.

The rift between the leadership spearheading the movement for Balochistan's freedom came to the fore as Bugti tweeted saying any such move needs national consensus and that Prof Baloch, who is currently visiting India, was "damaging" their cause.

"Government in exile is a national issue and National issues cannot be announced without national consensus. Naila Qadri is not representing Baloch People, rather than supporting they are damaging Baloch cause by their insane actions(sic)," Bugti said in a series of tweets.

Bugti, who is the President of the Baloch Republican Party, had last month approached the Indian Embassy in Geneva seeking asylum in India.

Prof Baloch, who lives in self-exile in Canada, and her son Mazdak Dilshad Baloch are scheduled to attend a series of meetings and seminars over the next few days in and outside New Delhi.

The Baloch cause for freedom received a major boost after Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought up Pakistani atrocities on people of Balochistan and of PoK in his Independence Day speech.
