Delhi policeman dies of dengue

 A Delhi Police official on Saturday died due to dengue, taking the toll due to the viral disease in the capital to 31.

New Delhi: A Delhi Police official on Saturday died due to dengue, taking the toll due to the viral disease in the capital to 31.

The number of patients down with the disease has climbed to 9,438, municipal authorities said.

Omprakash, posted as station house officer (SHO) in Bhalswa police station in northwest Delhi, was admitted to Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh. He died on Saturday.

A native of Haryana's Mahendragarh district, Omprakash joined Delhi Police in 1994.

He had joined Bhalswa police station just two days ago. His earlier posting was in the police special branch where he served for six years. Omprakash is survived by his wife and two sons.
