Chitrakoot bypoll results live: Congress wins by over 14,000 votes against BJP

The Congress party has won the Chitrakoot assembly bypoll in Madhya Pradesh by over 14,000 votes.

Whatever the results are, it does not denote the mood of the state: BJP's Shankar Dayal Tripathi

The counting till now shows the seat will go to Congress: BJP's Shankar Dayal Tripathi

12 candidates contested the by-election but the main fight was between Congress leader Nilanshu Chaturvedi and BJP's Shankar Dayal Tripathi 

The polls were necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MLA Prem Singh.

Around 65 per cent voting was recorded in the bypoll for which voting was held on November 9

Congress candidate Nilanshu Chaturvedi leading over BJP's Shankar Dayal Tripathi with over 18,000 votes after the ninth round of counting.
