New Delhi: Do you find your mobile data plan getting over very fast but you don't know why and how? Or which app on your mobile is sucking it up all?

Even as the prices of mobile data plans are coming down due to heavy competition, apps eating it up and draining it up before you know is really irritating.

Well! Here are five (5) apps that are quietly killing your mobile data plan.

  • Facebook: The most popular mobile app with over a billion download on Google Play Store and while checking it every five minutes is surely eating up your data plan, checking it with video autoplay is worse. It means that every time you check your Facebook, any videos in them automatically plays up, thus eating your data plan. So, to avoid this, go to More button on your Facebook app, then Settings-Account Settings-Videos and Photos. Then you set it there peacefully.
  • Twitter: Oh! Another favourite mobile app but it does not work data free. Does it? No, it sure does not. But while Twitter sure eats up data, autoplay videos kill the data plan all the more. So, go to Settings-Data and then set the video play as per you need.
  • Instagram: It not eats up the battery life of your mobile but also data plan. In as much as it is just about uploading videos and photos, it preloads and auto plays videos as you encounter them in the feed. So, to cut it out, go to Settings-Cellular Data Use and select Use Less Data.
  • YouTube: YouTube is all about videos and while uploading is up to the users, so is the playing of videos too. But having said that HD videos kill more data than lower quality videos. Moreover, if you are not one to use WiFi and do not want to spend too much data on YouTube videos, go to Settings and tap to turn on the toggle switch for Play HD on Wi-Fi only.
  • Auto Updates: Not really an app but apps do get automatically updated to new version if they are available on Google Play Store. The sad part is not many are aware of this but leading to high consumption of data play. So, to avoid such, go to Settings and change the updates to only via WiFi.
