Want to revive family banner with sensible films: Prateek

Grandfather Pramod Chakravorty produced `Love In Tokyo` and now Prateek Chakravorty revives the family banner with `From Sydney With Love`.

New Delhi: Grandfather Pramod Chakravorty produced `Love In Tokyo` and now Prateek Chakravorty revives the family banner with `From Sydney With Love`. He hopes to bring the banner back in the reckoning by making sensible films rather following any trend.
Pramod Chakravorty launched Pramod Films in 1962 and made films like `Ziddi`, `Love In Tokyo`, `Dream Girl` and `Naastik`. He died in 2004 and the banner became inactive after that.
Eight years later, Prateek is ready with "From Sydney With Love" that releases July 27. This year also marks 50 years of the banner. Prateek says "he wants to follow the principles of making sensible films". "This is what I will do when it comes to reviving Pramod Films. It`s not about the banner, it`s all about the kind of film that a banner makes. Pramod Films made around 13 movies and out of them, nine or 10 were jubilee hits of their time. Also, I think we were the first persons to start the trend of shooting overseas with `Love In Tokyo`," Prateek told IANS. "We always focus on telling the stories the way it should be told. Our banner has earned goodwill over the period of 50 years and I want to live on those principles and make films that have long-lasting impact and make sense," the 31-year-old said. The filmmaker realises being away from limelight for so many years may have diminished the charm of their production house and his primary goal is to bring that glory back. "I want Pramod to be an active banner. Now out of sight is out of mind. The film industry has short term memory and it is necessary to remain in action," he said. Starring fresh faces including Sharad Malhotra, Bidita Bag, Evelyn Sharma and Reshmi Ghosh, "From Sydney with Love" is a family comedy. Prateek says the movie is more about his real life experiences. "I did my MBA in Sydney and it was in 2004 when the whole idea was conceived. The film is all about group of students, including a girl from West Bengal, who gets a scholarship and goes to Sydney for further studies. It has got extracts of my life experiences and my observations of different fellow students while they were studying out there," he said. The music of the film has been launched. IANS
