Patel was confirmed as FBI director by the Senate on Thursday, expressing gratitude and vowing to rebuild the agency with transparency, accountability, and a commitment to justice. He thanked President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi for their support, emphasizing his goal to restore public trust in the FBI.

While Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine opposed his nomination, Patel garnered support from most of the Republican Party, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who had previously opposed other Trump nominees.

The Senate voted 48-45 along party lines to advance the nomination, triggering a 30-hour debate before Patel would have received final approval on Thursday, ANI reported citing The New York Post.
