Pyaaz Pakore (onion fritters) are a popular Indian snack made with sliced onions, gram flour (besan), and spices, deep-fried to perfection.
2 large onions (thinly sliced), 1 cup gram flour (besan), 1 tsp red chili powder, ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp ajwain (carom seeds), Salt to taste, Water (as needed), Oil for frying
Thinly slice the onions and separate the layers for that perfect crispy texture.
Mix besan, spices, and salt in a bowl. Gradually add water to make a thick batter.
Add sliced onions to the batter and coat them well. Ensure they are evenly covered.
Heat oil in a pan on medium-high flame. Test by dropping a small batter drop—it should sizzle.
Drop small portions of the batter-coated onions into the oil. Fry until golden brown.
Remove and drain excess oil on paper towels. Serve hot with chutney or chai!
