7 Steps To Make Punjabi Style Rajma For Lunch

Start by soaking the rajma (kidney beans) in water overnight or for at least 6-8 hours.

In a pressure cooker or a large pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once the seeds pop up add chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillies and ginger garlic paste.

To the masala, add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Stir the spices into the mixture.

Add the soaked and drained rajma to the masala. Stir well to coat the beans with the spices. Now add water and cover the cooker and let it cook for 3-4 whistles.

5.)

Once the rajma is cooked, use a spoon or potato masher to mash a few beans.

6.)

After cooking, add freshly chopped coriander leaves.

7.)

Punjabi-style rajma can be best enjoyed with steamed basmati rice or soft rotis.
