Meerut: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that 'nation first' agenda will help the country move forward on the development path, adding that there will be no discrimination on the basis of caste and religion in his state.
While addressing an event to honour the freedom fighters, CM Adityantah said, “We have to rise above caste, religion and gender and focus on how to make the country more developed.”
Unhappy with UP's performance in the Swachh Survekshan programme, CM Adityanath said, “Only one city from UP is on the list of cleanest cities in India and 52 cities on the list of cities that are dirtiest, we have to change this.”
Commenting on the anti-romeo squads, the fireband BJP leader said, “We constituted anti-romeo squad, it will work strictly in the entire state. Safety of daughters, sisters will be ensured.”
The Urban Development Ministry on Thursday announced the results of Swachh Survekshan, which showed Indore in Madhya Pradesh as the cleanest city in the country and Gonda in Uttar Pradesh as the dirtiest.
PM Narendra Modi's constituency Varanasi was ranked at 32.
Bhopal, another city in MP, came at second spot, followed by Visakhapatnam (Vizag) and Surat.
Swachh Survekshan
In order to foster a healthy competition between cities for improving cleanliness standards, the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) started the “Swachh Survekshan” survey, ranking of cities on cleanliness and other aspects of urban sanitation, in 2016 which ranked 73 cities across the country.
