Jallikattu row: Pass judgement after proper analysis, Tamil Nadu locals urge Supreme Court

Chennai: The citizens of southern state Tamil Nadu on Sunday urges the Supreme Court to pass the judgment on bull-taming sports Jallikattu after a proper analysis.

A local said here that Jallikattu has been banned because of some misuse, adding that this is the reason behind the people of Tamil Nadu not enjoying the festival well.

"The policeman has deployed to monitor if anybody is flouting the rules. Our request to the Supreme Court is if it wants to give judgement than the authorities should watch the fight then analyze and then pass the order," the local told the ANI.

In 2014, the Supreme Court banned the Jallikattu sports on grounds of animal cruelty, an order which did not go well with Tamil Nadu locals.

Meanwhile, the All Indian Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) also expressed disappointment over the apex court's ruling against the Jallikattu.

Protests over the banning of Jallikattu dampened the festive spirit in Madurai.

Anguished over the banning of the sport for the third year in a row, some villages in Madurai observed the festival as "Black Pongal" this time.

The locals hoisted black flags and held processions condemning PETA, an animal rights organisation and demanded that the Centre take steps to allow the sport to be held in the state.
