Pennsylvania: Marc Leishman and David Lingmerth got off to fast starts in the fourth round of the US Open Sunday, showing birdies could be had at Oakmont as leader Shane Lowry`s tee time approached.

Australia`s Leishman birdied the first three holes, while Sweden`s Lingmerth birdied four of his first five.

Former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen opened with back-to-back birdies.

But the formidable Oakmont course has a way of bringing players back to earth, and all saw their surges slowed by at least one bogey before the turn.

Among the dangers awaiting Sunday on the classic course outside of Pittsburgh was the par-three eighth -- playing at a whopping 299 yards.

Masters champion Danny Willett provided a cautionary tale, with two double-bogeys in his first five holes.

Ireland`s Lowry, holding a four-stroke lead, was due to tee off at 3:30pm (1930 GMT) alongside America`s 624th-ranked Andrew Landry.

Dustin Johnson, tied with Landry at three-under through 54 holes, tees off at 3:20 with England`s Lee Westwood, who was level with American Daniel Summerhays at two-under.
