WATCH: How Sri Lanka's mystery spinner Lakshan Sandakan left Australia spellbound

New Delhi: Despite bowling Sri Lanka out for just 117, Australia only managed a first innings lead of 86.

This was largely due to the efforts of the hosts' new spin sensation Lakshan Sandakan, who ended Day 2 with 4-58.

The Aussie tail had no answers to the 25-year-old's variations.

Sandakan's were the best figures ever by a left-arm wrist-spinner on Test debut.

The chinaman claimed to have four variations in his repertoire.

Over the years, the islanders have produced several mystery bowlers.

The only one to go the distance was Muttiah Muralitharan. In order for the team to revive its fortunes on the international stage, the Lankan fans will be hoping that Sandakan was follow in Murali's footsteps.
