New Delhi: Former Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara hit his fifth County Championship ton of the summer to keep his dream run going. Sangakkara's ton keeps Surrey on course for the Division Two title at the Oval.

The left-hander made 101 against Northamptonshire on day 2 as the match was washed out on the first day of the four-day Test match. This was Sangakkara's third ton this month after having previously scored 166 against Nottinghamshire and 118 against Lancashire.

Sangakkara hit a solitary six and 13 fours and shared half-century stands with Steven Davies (21) and English international Jason Roy (32).

He was eventually caught behind off Rob Keogh (2-115). Meanwhile, Sam Curran saw Surrey score a good looking 378-8 at stumps with an unbeaten 52.

Sangakkara who retired from international Test cricket last month against India, has contributed to Surrey's fortunes. The Sri Lankan had already amassed big scores on a regular basis and has played a pivotal role in Surrey's success making fans believe he still has it in him to play cricket for few seasons more.
