'Struggling' Hashim Amla breaks unwanted record in Kotla Test

New Delhi: The South African Test skipper Hashim Amla created a new record on Sunday by facing most number of balls for a single-digit score on the fourth Day of the final Test between India and South Africa.

Out of form Amla took 113 balls to score 6 runs in second innings as he broke the earlier record of Australian Carl Rackemann who had taken 102 balls to get to 9 runs.

Amla came to the crease after Proteas lost their opener Dean Elgar before lunch on Day 4.

With Temba Bavuma, Amla started playing in ultra defensive mode as his team continues to fight to save the Test.

The 32-year-old took 40 balls to open his account and had faced 109 dot balls at Tea break on Day 4.

India have already won the four-match series 2-0.
