Shahid Afridi goes 'boom-boom' at Eden Gardens ahead of much-awaited ICC World T20 match against India

New Delhi: After a poor show in Asia Cup 2016, followed by a huge controversy around his 'more love in India remark', Pakistan T20I skipper Shahid Afridi let his bat do the talking in the second match of ICC World Twenty20.

At the Eden Gardens, in the team's opening encounter against Bangladesh, Pakistani batsmen dismantled Mashrafe Mortaza and his troops with swashbuckling batting.

While Ahmad Shahzad and Mohammad Hafeez were the heroes at the top of the order, Afridi joined the run-fest soon by promoting himself at No. 4 ahead of Umar Akmal.

Afridi came to bat in the 15th over, after Shahzad's dismissal, and looked in brutal mood from the word go.

After a rough patch with the bat lately, the dynamic right-hander reminded fans of his glorious past, where he used to be one of the most dangerous batsmen in all formats.

Afridi's 19-ball 49 provided Pakistan the much-needed flourish in the death overs, as a result of which they posted 200 runs on board and won the match by 55 runs.

Not to forget, the knock came at Eden Gardens, the venue for the much-awaited match between India and Pakistan.

Pakistan, who have never beaten India in a World Cup match, will get a lot of confidence from their win against Bangladesh, while the Men in Blue will be under tremendous pressure post a shocking 47-run defeat against the Kiwis in their opening encounter.

The crowd can be rest assured of another thrilling battle between the two neighbours on March 19.
