ISRO releases first colour image of Earth captured by INSAT-3DR!

ISRO released the first colour image of Earth taken by INSAT-3DR satellite today on September 19.

New Delhi: On 8th September, 2016, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched the INSAT-3DR satellite aboard a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV Mk II) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

On 15th September, 2016, the Indian space agency released the first images of the Earth captured by the satellite, which went viral on Twitter.

Even though the image was in black and white, it was highly praised by science and space enthusiasts and retweeted 683 times. Now, ISRO released the first colour image of Earth taken by INSAT-3DR satellite today on September 19. ISRO tweeted the colour image on Monday morning and it has already received 356 retweets. The advanced meteorological satellite has been configured with an imaging System and an Atmospheric Sounder in order to provide with a variety of meteorological services.
