Baahubali 2: Offended by Kattappa’s dialogue community files police complaint

Mumbai: The concluding part of SS Rajamouli’s two-part magnum opus – Baahubali 2 – is roaring big at the Box Office worldwide. Starring Prabhas, the mega-budget film, has impressed audiences across all age groups. But a dialogue mouth by Kattappa, a character in the film has apparently offended a particular community.

According to a report in Indiatimes.com, members of Arekatika Porata Samithi have lodged a complaint with the Banjara Hills police station stating that they are offended by a scene in which Kattappa (a character essayed by Tamil veteran Sathyaraj) says “Katika Cheekati.” They have claimed that Katika is a caste slur.

“We Katika people indulge in the trade of butchery, to sell meat of goats, sheep and hens, to provide healthy food to the society, as part of our livelihood. We are not harsh, inhuman and anti-social people as the movies try to portray us,” a report in the The News Minute quoted the complaint as saying.

The community has reportedly urged the Censor Board to remove the dialogue from the film. However, the report has also stated that the police have not filed a case based on the complaint yet.
