It was not a great tour for Shubman Gill, who had a forgettable time in the middle. Just 8 runs in T20Is, 74 runs in 4 innings of Tests. Shubman's overseas records are depleting and he must work hard on that aspect. Tilak Varma was a slop show in T20Is with the bat, scoring just 29 runs from 2 matches. Shardul Thakur too had a very poor run in South Africa and needs a warning of sorts as his place is now in danger. Prasidh Krishna was very expensive with the ball in 2 Tests he played without picking many wickets. (Image: AP)

India had 3 different captains for 3 formats on this tour. All were good. Surya drew the T20I series 1-1 while KL Rahul helped India win the ODIs and Rohit Sharma led his troops well to level the Test series 1-1 after losing the first Test by an innings and 32 runs. (Image: AP)

India had the chance to write history by winning their first-ever Test series on South Africa soil. But that chance is gone now. They still managed to win at Cape Town and level the series. The T20I and ODI sides also played terrific cricket. India are coming back with 1-0 win across formats over SA, which should be called as a good campaign abroad. (Image: AP)
