Mumbai: Sonu Nigam’s tweets about ‘forced religiousness’ on Monday had drawn mixed response from the showbiz industry. The singer was slammed by many Twitter users for making such remarks but he stands by his statement despite severe backlash.

Nigam took to Twitter on Tuesday after a huge controversy erupted over his statement where he had raised objection to loudspeakers at places of worship.

Responding to all those who were slamming him, Nigam tweeted: “Dear everyone. Your stand exposes your own IQ. I stand by my statement that loudspeakers should not be allowed in Mosques & Temples. Period (sic).”

For the uninitiated, here’s what Nigam had tweeted on Monday: “God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India. And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison? I don't believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don't follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True? (sic).”
