Meghalaya CM's wife, Sangma's son file nomination papers for Tura Lok Sabha bypoll

The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno A Sangma earlier this year.

Tura: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma's wife Dikkanchi D Shira and Purno A Sangma's son Conrad Sangma on Wednesday filed their nomination papers for the Tura Lok Sabha bypoll scheduled for May 16.

The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of former Lok Sabha Speaker Purno A Sangma earlier this year.

Both filed their nominations at the office of the Returning Officer here accompanied by family members, friends and party workers.

Stating that P A Sangma had worked tirelessly for over 40 years, Conrad said he would carry on with the vision his father had on the demand for a separate Garoland state.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister's wife and Mahendraganj legislator said as Purno A Sangma's chapter is closed, the people of Garo Hills have to move in a new direction. uppan and Mannadipet.

Rangasamy said the candidates for the remaining nine seats would be announced tomorrow. April 29 is the last date for filing nominations.
