DDCA row: Shatrughan Sinha calls Kirti Azad a 'hero', asks Arun Jaitley to follow LK Advani's example

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha, Wednesday, termed his colleague Kirti Azad as a 'hero' and said the 'party with a difference has become a party with differences'.

Amid the raging debate over alleged financial irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Administration (DDCA), the BJP MP, who has often taken a position at variance with the party's stand, said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley should fight the case politically and not legally.

The actor-turned politician further advised Jaitley to pay heed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advice and follow BJP patriarch LK Advani's example and come clean.

The Prime Minister had on Tuesday said the Finance Minister will come through "with flying colours" against charges of corruption levelled against him by the opposition in a same way LK Advani did in the Hawala case.

Advani had resigned from Lok Sabha in 1996 after allegations were levelled against him in the Hawala case. The case, however, later collapsed due to lack of evidence.

The reactions from the Patna Saheb MP came in the backdrop of attacks on Jaitley by Kejriwal and other AAP leaders over alleged irregularities and financial wrong doings in Delhi's cricket body - DDCA - of which he was the president for about 13 years till 2013.

Jaitley on Monday filed a defamation suit against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and sought Rs10 crore in damages for accusing him of corruption when he headed the DDCA.

Even as a combative Jaitley defended himself in parliament against the corruption charges, fellow BJP MP Kirti Azad, who has been alleging major financial bungling in the DDCA for years, demanded to know why the minister had not sued him.

Kirti has demanded a time-bound probe by a court-monitored Special Investigation Team into the DDCA affairs. He said a CBI inquiry would take too much time.

Azad, a Lok Sabha member from Bihar, on Sunday alleged massive corruption in the DDCA. He said he had done no wrong by raising an issue involving Jaitley.
