SDM report holds Ryan school guilty of Divyansh's death

New Delhi: The magisterial inquiry into the death of six-year-old Divyansh Kakrora, a student of Ryan International school in New Delhi, on Saturday pointed out serious lapses and deliberate inaction by school authorities in the case.

The report filed by SDM on Friday stated that the school completely failed in its responsibility to take proper care of its students. The report also mentioned that school administration did not make any attempt to rescue the child after he was spotted inside the tank.

Meanwhile, DCP South Delhi said that a notice has been issued to the administration and the higher authorities of the Ryan International school in Divyansh Kakrora death case.

Divyansh, a class I student of Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj area, was found dead in a water tank under the school's amphitheatre on January 30, this year.

"There was complete lack of moral and common sense found among the school members. When body of Divyansh was spotted inside the tank, none of the school authorities responded. Had the school management acted on time, 6-year-old child's life could have been saved," says magisterial probe in Ryan School negligence case.

Divyansh's body was rescued from the water tank by a class XI student of Ryan International school in the presence of school teachers and swimming coach.

Raising questions on school's negligence in the case, the report further said, "In absence of class XI student, possible that body of child could not have been rescued. Not even a single CCTV installed in and around amphitheatre and play ground whereas at least 21 cameras were installed in Ryan premises itself.

The magisterial report also accused the class teacher of being negligent and said, "The class teacher failed to notice absence of Divyansh for hours and couldn't not figure out proper time of missing child."

Indicting authorities at Ryan International school responsible behind the tragic death of Divyansh, the SDM report said, "Ryan school's allegation about Divyansh being hyperactive was a ploy by the teacher to extract money from his parents."
