Delhi govt defends suspension of DANICS officers

The Delhi government had yesterday suspended two senior officers of its Home Department after they refused to sign on a Cabinet decision file.

New Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday defended the suspension of two senior officers of its Home Department, saying that it was administrative matter and a cabinet decision was failed to be implemented.

"I have no information of any strike. Suspension is an administrative matter and a cabinet decision was failed to be implemented," Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain told ANI.

He also launched a tirade against Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, saying that he had power to stay some orders, but a blanket order saying no order of Delhi Government is to be seen through, won`t be followed by them.

"Officers can`t tell me that Lieutenant Governor has asked them not to work. The Lieutenant Governor should have passed a written order. It is clear that it`s a conspiracy, if officers had grievances they should have gone to the Chief Minister and not the Lieutenant Governor," he added.

The Delhi government had yesterday suspended two senior officers of its Home Department after they refused to sign on a Cabinet decision file, following which around 200 DANICS-cadre officers have threatened to go on mass leave today.

Yashpal Garg, special secretary (Prosecution), and Subhash Chandra, special secretary (Prisons), have been suspended.
