Pulwama encounter: Arms recovered prove Pakistan supporting terrorists, says Army Chief

SRINAGAR: Three Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with the security forces in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. M4 carbine has been recovered from the site, in a clear indication of support to terrorists from across the border.  

"This makes it clear that terrorists are getting support from across the border," Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said on Tuesday. One AK47 along with other ammunition was also recovered from the encounter site.

The JeM has confirmed that three of its men were killed during the encounter including the nephew of its chief Maulana Masood Azhar. The JeM spokesman identified Masood Azhar`s nephew as commander Talha Rasheed.

Reacting to reports of the death of Masood Azhar's nephew, the Army Chief said: "It doesn't matter if he is Masood Azhar's nephew or anyone else. We aim at neutralizing all terrorists no matter where they belong."

The encounter was a joint operation between Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Lance Naik Vrahma Pal Singh lost his life in the encounter and a civilian has also been injured.
