Noida school shuts amid Coronavirus fear, all exams cancelled

New Delhi: A private school in Uttar Pradesh's Noida was shut down on Tuesday (March 3) after it was reported that one of the parents of the student studying in the school tested positive on Monday. The Uttar Pradesh Health Authorities conducted necessary medical checks at the school and sent the sample of the student for testing.

Union Ministry of Health said on Monday that the man had a travel history of Italy. He had thrown a birthday party in Agra on Friday which was attended by several people, including two students of the school. The people who attended the party are also under scanner.

The Chief Medical Officers (CMO) of Noida and Gautam Budh Nagar have also issued a notice to various companies amid coronavirus fear in Noida. The CMO has asked the people returning to India from abroad to report to the Health Ministry first.

In another development, at least six cases of high viral fever were reported from the Taj city (Agra) on March 3. Reports claimed that these are the same people who were in contact with the COVID-19 patient from New Delhi. All the six people have been kept in an isolation and their samples have been sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune for confirmation. A contact tracing of the persons who have come in contact with these six persons is also simultaneously being done through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) network.

Globally, more than 3,100 people have died as a result of the virus, the vast majority of them in China.  More than 90,000 people have been infected, with cases registered in more than 60 countries.
