Pune Bypoll Election Results: BJP expecting to win in Chinchwad, leading by 10,000 votes

After losing in the Kasba Peth bypolls, the BJP is hoping to win in the Chinchwad constituency. The saffron party candidate Ashwini Jagtap, at the end of the 20th round of counting, has received around 71,000 votes. On the other hand, NCP's Nana Kate has gotten 61,549. He has been trailing behind Jagtap since the first few rounds of counting. Independent candidate Rahul Kalate who had shown a lot of promise has only received 23,255 votes in comparison to the two big contenders. 

Pune Bypoll Elections Result: Devendra Fadnavis says BJP accepts defeat in Kasba Peth

In the Maharashtra Assembly House, Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis commented on the bypoll results for Pune's Kasba Peth and Chinchwad constituencies. He said that the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance has accepted the bypoll result in Kasba Peth where Congress won after over 28 years. However, he said the Opposition must also accept the result of the Chinchwad bypoll where the BJP is leading. "You have to find solace in one bypoll win and announce it in the House. You have to introspect like we will do about the Kasba defeat," he said as quoted by PTI.

Pune Bypoll Election Results: In Chinchwad, counting still underway

While the Congress won in Pune's Kasba Peth, the counting of votes is still underway in the Chinchwad constituency. At the end of the 19th round of counting, BJP candidate Ashwini Jagtap was still leading with 64,300 votes and NCP's Nana Kate trailed behind at 55,747 votes. Meanwhile, Rahul Kalate received 22,700 votes at the end of the 19th round.

Pune Bypoll Election Results: Uddhav Thackeray targets BJP after MVA wins in Kasba Peth

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Uddhav Thackeray took a dig at the BJP after Maha Vikas Aghadi's win in Pune's Kasba Peth. He accused the BJP of employing a "use and throw away" policy. He claimed that was seen in Pune and even with the Shiv Sena referring to the takedown of the Thackeary-Pawar government in Maharashtra. He bashed the saffron party for not giving the ticket to late MLA Mukta Tilak's family member. He also mentioned that the party made the ailing Girish Bapat campaign for the polls in a wheelchair. 

Pune Bypoll Election Results: BJP loses stronghold over Kasba Peth 

The Maha Vikas Aghadi is over the moon after defeating the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance at their bastion Kasba Peth. After over 30 years, the party has lost its seat in the constituency. Reacting to the results, BJP candidate Hemant Rasane expressed that he fell short as a candidate and not the party. He thanked the party for giving him a chance to contest but said he wasn't able to win. Rasane said that he accepted the outcome and will reasons behind his defeat.

Congress, on Thursday, defeated the BJP who had ruled the Kasba Peth constituency for the past 30 years. MVA's Ravindra Dhangekar won in the constituency by an estimated 11,000 votes in a big blow to the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. MVA workers took to the streets soon after the results were announced and Dhangekar's win was confirmed. In several videos, they were seen dancing on the streets while spreading gulal on one another.

Pune Bypoll Election Results: Congress wins in Kasba Peth by 11,000 votes

In a big victory for MVA, Ravindra Dhangekar won the Kasba Peth assembly constituency election by 11,000 votes against BJP's Hemant Rasane.

After 16 rounds of counting in Kasba Peth, Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate Ravindra Dhangekar has managed to stay ahead of BJP's Rasane. Dhangekar had 56,497 votes and Hemant Rasane had 50,490 votes at the end of the 16th round. Ravindra Dhangekar is leading by 6,000 votes.

In a video shared by the news agency ANI, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) workers were seen bursting firecrackers on the road, throwing gulal on each other, and dancing to celebrate as Congress candidate from Kasba Peth Ravindra Dhagekar leads against BJP's Hemant Rasane. The results aren't out yet but early trends have been in favour of Congress.

Pune Bypoll Election Results: What is the voter share in Kasba Peth and Chinchwad?

According to the data from the Pune district information office, Kasba Peth has a total of 2,75,428 voters. Here's their gendered division - 1,38, 550 (women), 1,36,87 (men), and 5 (transgender persons). Chinchwad constituency has a total of 56,8954 eligible voters, lesser in comparison to Kasba Peth. These elections are important to establish if it is the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance or the NCP which has power and trust of people in the state.

Kasba Peth is a stronghold of the RSS-BJP and the saffron party has won from this constituency in Pune for the last 30 years. However, Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar is all set to break that streak and draw influence in this BJP-ruled constituency. It would be a huge victory for the MVA if Dhangekar does manage to beat BJP's Hemant Rasane. Dhangekar has been leading in all the rounds of counting and his supporters have already begun pre-celebrating his predicted victory.

After the 9th round of counting Chinchwad, it appears BJP's Ashwini Jagtap continues to have an upper hand over the other contenders. Jagtap has received a total of 32,288 votes till now in comparison to NCP's Nana Kate and independent candidate Rahul Kalate who have received 25,922 and 10,705 votes in total respectively.

Jagtap seems to have an edge against the other candidates but the contest can turn upside down as many more rounds of counting are remaining in Chinchwad.

Kasba Bypoll Results: 11th round of counting done, Congress still maintains lead

Will BJP be able to catch up to Congress candidate Ravindra Dhagekar in Kasba Peth? BJP candidate Hemant Rasane who has received 37,941 votes in total till now is still behind Dhangekar as the latter has received 41,211 votes in total at the end of the 11th round.

Pune Bypoll Election Results: Will BJP retain power in Kasba Peth, Chinchwad?

The Kasba Peth and Chinchwad bypolls were necessitated due to the demise of the two BJP MLAs of the assembly constituencies, namely Mukta Tilak (Kasba) and Laxman Jagtap (Chinchwad). The polling took place on February 26 amid tight security and saw a voter turnout of 50% on average. The turnout of the bypolls wasn't surprising as it is usually lower than for assembly or general elections.

Chinchwad Bypoll Result: Three-way contest now led by BJP and NCP

The three main contenders in Chinchwad are - Ashwini Jagtap (BJP), Nana Kate (NCP), and Rahul Kalate (Independent). According to early trends, Ashwini Jagtap and Nana Kate are leading the contest with 24,417 and 20,318 votes respectively till now.

Whereas the independent candidate who was expected to pose a strong challenge to the BJP and NCP - Nana Kate has received  8,239 votes in total.

While earlier Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar was leading in Kasba Peth consistently for 5 rounds of counting, after the 7th round the margin by which he was leading reduced. He was leading by 2,900 votes but now he is leading by 1,577 votes after the 7th round. In total, Dhangekar has received 23,000 votes so far and Hemant Rasane got 20,353 votes.

1st round of counting in Kasba Peth: What are the trends?

After the first round of vote counting in Pune's Kasba Peth, Congress candidate Dhangekar got 5,844 votes whereas BJP candidate Heman Rasane got 2,863 votes. Dhangekar was leading by 2981 at the time and continues to do so after the 5th round.

After the 5th round of counting as well, MVA's Ravindra Dhangekar continues to lead by 3000 votes. Dhangekar's leading streak may spell bad news for the BJP, however, it is still early to make any inferences. Meanwhile, NOTA votes were reported to be 86.

BJP's Ashwini Laxman Jagtap leading in Chinchwad 

According to Election Commission of India data, BJP's Ashwini Laxman Jagtap is leading by a margin of 449 votes at the moment in the Chinchwad assembly constituency. On the other hand, NCP's Nana Kate is trailing right behind. There will be 37 rounds of counting in Chinchwad.
