Farmers’ union leaders at Singhu border will go on hunger strike on Dec 14

Delhi Police have installed security barricades on the Singhu border with chained locks so that the barricades cannot be removed. The police have placed dumper filled with mud first, then barricades and then cement barricades as security. After the barricades, there is a cache of RAF and BSF personnel deployed.

At New Delhi's Krishi Bhawan, several representatives of farmers organization met Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar and thanked him for the agricultural reforms and gave a memorandum demanding to not repeal of new farm laws.

Farmers on their way to Gurugram are still in Rajasthan's Shahjahanpur where they will be joined by other farmers tonight and on December 13 morning they will travel towards Delh.

Manesar DCP Nitika Gehlot told Zee News that there was intelligence inputs about farmers trying to shut down NH-8. She assured that the Gurugram Police is fully prepared and NH-8 will not be allowed to be blocked. More than 1000 policemen have been deployed. All the toll plazas are under police cover. 

To stop farmers on their way to Delhi from Delhi-Jaipur Highway, the police is erecting iron and cement barricades, a crane is ready for the purpose. There is heavy police force deployment in Manesar.

Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait spoke on 'anti-national elements' in farmers' agitation as stated by the government. "Central Intelligence should catch them and put such people behind bars. We haven't found any such person here. If we do we'll send them away," he said. 

The lawyers heading to Delhi borders said that they will extend their support as well as privide legal advice to them until they continue their agitation. They also stated that government passed the agri laws unanimously in the Rajya Sabha in order to give more benefits to traders, which is completely wrong.

Hundreds of lawyers of Punjab and Haryana High Court are arriving at Delhi borders to support the farmers on the 17 days of 'Dilli Chalo' agitation. The lawyers are reaching at the borders to extend their support to farmers who are agitating against the central farm laws. The lawyers said that the government made the agri law but did not consult people associated with this section. 

This is not the first time PM Modi spoke on the ongoing agitation of farmers against the farm laws. In his last 'Mann ki Baat' speech, the Prime Minister had stated that Parliament passed farm reform laws after rigorous brainstorming. "These reforms have not only broken shackles of farmers but have also given new rights and opportunities to them," PM Modi had said in Mann Ki Baat speech.

The Prime Minister said the goal of these reforms is to increase the income of the farmers and make the country prosperous.

When the farmer of the country will prosper, the country will also prosper, said PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the 93rd Annual Convention of FICCI. While addressing the convention, PM spoke on farmers' issue and said, "Today, farmers of India can sell their produce both at the mandis, as well as outside. Farmers can also sell their produce on digital platforms.  We've taking all these initiatives to increase the farmers' income and make them more prosperous."

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has hit out at opposition parties for allegedly leading the farmer’s movement towards disorientation, and said that the malicious efforts to spread disharmony in the country would not be tolerated.

Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait said that if the government wants to talk to farmer leaders, that should be formally conveyed like in previous occasions. "They (government) should first tell us when and where they want to meet us as they did for previous formal talks. If they invite us for talks, we will discuss that with our coordination committee and then take a decision," Tikait  said.

Protesting farmers are gearing up to block more highways and picket toll plazas on the border to Delhi on Saturday against the three agricultural sector laws. The farmers have announced to block Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Agra highways on Saturday.
