J&K: 8 Hizbul and LeT terrorists gunned down in ongoing encounters in Shopian's Dragad and Kachdora

SRINAGAR: Eight terrorists, believed to be members of Hizbul and Lashkar-e-Toiba, were gunned down in ongoing encounters in Shopian's Dragad and Kachdora villages in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounters are still underway.
Two Army personnel were killed in the encounters.
The encounters began late on Saturday night. Police and Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 3 RR, 34 RR, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are part of the operation at both the places.

Two soldiers were injured at Kachdora while another was injured at Dragad. All of them have been shifted to the military hospital.
"About four to five terrorists are still trapped but some civilians are also trapped in the houses there and we are making efforts to rescue them," said J&K DGP SP Vaid.
"One terrorist was killed in Anantnag and another was caught alive. Encounters are underway in Shopian's Dragad and Kachdoora. Seven bodies of terrorists and huge amount of weapons have been recovered in Dragad," he added.
The number of militants holed up is not yet clear.
Internet services have been suspended in south Kashmir areas while rail services between Baramulla and Bannihal towns have also temporarily terminated.
Another encounter took place in the state's Anantnag district on Saturday. Police sources said that a militant identified as Rouf Khandey was killed and another was apprehended in a gunfight with the security forces in Dialgam area.
