Gurgaon: More chilling details about the harrowing gang-rape of a 23-year-old woman by three men in a moving auto-rickshaw in Gurgaon have now come to fore even as the police intensified its search for the three suspects.

According to the Times of India, several hours after the incident, the woman returned to pick up her baby, who was thrown out of the auto-rickshaw by the three men when she resisted their attempt to gang-rape her.

The young woman, after reaching the spot, found her baby lying unconscious in the middle of the road, and then travelled on a metro train to a nearby hospital.

Upon reaching the hospital, she was told that her baby was dead. Unable to come to terms with her baby's untimely death, the woman visited another hospital only to be told that her nine-month-old was no more.

When the second hospital confirmed the death, she returned to Gurgaon, where she was picked up by her husband at a metro station, the police said.

The 23-year-old woman had hired an auto rickshaw to reach her parents' home late on May 29 when this unfortunate incident occurred.

Gurgaon Police Commissioner Sandeep Khirwar admitted that the woman travelled with her dead child in the metro the morning after her assault.

"Her husband and the Gurgaon Police received the victim from the MG Road Metro Station after she returned from hospital in Delhi. The police conducted a post-mortem of the infant," Khirwar said.

The Gurgaon Police, which had released sketches of three men and appealed to the public to come forward with information, today arrested one of them, according to ANI.

Confirming the development, the Gurgaon Police said that one person has been arrested in connection with the May 29 gang-rape case in Manesar, and said that hunt is on for other suspects.

The woman had left her home in a village with her baby daughter, reportedly after a fight with her husband, and walked straight into her worst nightmare.

Narrating her ordeal to the police, she said that she first took a ride on a truck but got off after the driver molested her. She was then offered a ride by an auto-rickshaw carrying three men.

The three men in the auto attacked her, and when the baby started crying, they threw her onto the road.

The woman was gang-raped for four hours before she was finally dumped on the road, the police said.

Since the matter came to fore at least 50 auto-rickshaw drivers had been questioned and some detained by the police for questioning.

Given the media attention to the horrific rape and murder of the infant, the Gurgaon Police had formed a Special Investigation Team to investigate the case.

It also come to light that the local police did not register an FIR for gang-rape but included the charge only five days after the shameful incident.
