Ahmedabad: Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani, who emerged victorious in the assembly elections held in Gujarat, on Wednesday attacked the winning party BJP, saying its pride has been crushed despite being in power for several years in the western state.
''They were claiming they'll win 150 seats but that pride has been crushed,'' Mevani was quoted as saying by ANI.
Reacting to PM Narendra Modi's message to the party cadres to woo more voters and focus on the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mevani said, ''Same will happen in 2019, it is a victory for our movement.''
Jignesh Mevani, who won from Gujarat's Vadgam assembly constituency, said, ''In the coming days, we will intensify our movement in the state assembly and on streets.''
Mevani further warned that the ruling BJP will be confronted again in the 2019 polls.
