This lake in Maharashtra is situated in world's OLDEST meteorite crater - Pic inside

Mumbai: The Indian state of Maharashtra is blessed by the beautiful Western Ghats, majestic hill stations, breathtaking landscape and majestic water bodies. Among the many lakes in this gorgeous state, the Lonar Lake in the Budhana district (about 500 kilometres from the capital city of Mumbai) finds a special mention.

The Lonar Lake is no ordinary water body. It is situated in the world’s oldest and India’s largest meteorite crater.

It is also apparently the only known hyper velocity impact crater in basaltic rock anywhere across the earth.
